These photos were taken at Silvio’s Pizza in Redford, Michigan. Silvio Barile was born in 1938 in Ausonia, Italy, and came to the U.S. in the 1950’s. For thirty years, Silvio has been beautifying his Pizzeria inside and out, and building sculptures in his backyard, located behind the Pizzeria. Over the years, he has created a fantastic environment, both inside and out. His sculptures are built of concrete, and a variety of other materials and objects, and they reflect a deep interest in both his Italian and American heritage and culture, and perhaps above all, his love of life and art.
